New Build 350 Bed Hostel [Finsbury Park]

Resilient Edge carried out Client Agent duties during the final construction and sign-off stages for this new build hostel providing nearly 350 bed spaces for homeless people in Hackney. The project subtly combines comfort and quality to create a supporting environment for people getting back on their feet and significantly increases the potential of the existing site, originally providing just 40 bed spaces for the same purpose.

A large solar panel array, rainwater recycling system and variety of natural habitats forming part of the external landscaping also make this development surprisingly eco-friendly. Following it’s completion, the project was awarded Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development at the LABC London Region Awards 2018 and was subsequently named a finalist in the LABC National Awards 2018. It was also named a finalist in the London Construction Awards 2018 for the Sustainable Construction, and London Build Excellence categories.

Prior to founding Resilient Edge, Director Jon Pyle was lead designer and contract administrator with the project architect Crawford Partnership.
